lesson 14 aims
I am going to research fonts which I could potentially use as a masthead on the front cover and throughout the magazine. This will save time when creating the mast head as the font will already be decided.

Calender
During the research and planning period of the magazine I have created a calendar which has helped me plan out when to complete work and set myself deadlines in order for the work to be completed.
As September was the first month of research and planning, most of the tasks consisted of making decisions about what the magazine is going to look like and creating surveys to gather data. Although I completed these tasks I think I could have been more effective with my time during September to make the research as detailed as possible and to make the work the best it can be.
In October I used my time more effectively in lessons which enabled me to complete more tasks and gather more research. During this month I analysed the data collected and decided on a target audience. This has allowed me to make final decisions about the magazine as I can use data gathered from readers to make the magazine more successful. In this month I also planned out a photo shoot which I am going to carry out to get professional images which is going to be used within my magazine.

Lesson 13 review
During todays lesson i have planned out the photo shoot by answering questions which has helped me make decisions on what my photos are going to look like and and how my model is going to dress and pose. The recce has helped me cover any issues i may have with health and safety during the photo shoot.
Recce
Are there any potential hazards
that could pose a health and safety risk where your photo shoot will take place
(trailing cables/traffic/other objects )?
Although there may not be any safety risks when doing the shoot in the studio, there will be many risks when shooting the location shots. There will be heavy traffic in Newcastle as it is a city centre. There will also be a lot of people around which could produce a potential risk. To overcome these risks I am going to go when it is not rush hour to minimise traffic and also stick to pathways to ensure I am not putting myself in danger. However there may be risks in the studio as there will be cables from the lights etc. To minimise these risks I am going to make sure the cables are out of the way to stop myself or the model from tripping over them. I am also going to be quick as possible when shooting to ensure the lights or camera do not over heat.

Will the time of day/weather affect the outcome of the photos? Have you allowed for this?
The time of day will effect the outcome of the photos as I do not want many people around when taking the photos, I am going to go at a time of day where people are in work or school to minimise the amount of people around. I am going to plan to go on a day where the weather is sunny however not too sunny so my images are not effected by the sun. I am going to allow for a chance of clouds.
Have you considered the background
to your photos, particularly if taken outside? How will you ensure you will get
the background you want?
I am going to include as little background as possible to make sure no unwanted objects are in the photos. To do this I am going to use the zoom on the camera and take close up shots of the signs to the locations. I am also going to take photos of posters around the location. I am going to ensure I get the right background by taking the images at the correct angle and position.

Have you considered lighting? What
about the ‘problems’ of natural lighting, either outside, or streaming through
a window? Will you need to use a flash?
As I am going to take the location photos during the day when its sunny, I am going to use natural lighting. I will not need to use any flash. During the photo shoot in the studio i am going to use low key lighting. Natural lighting will not effect the shoot in the studio.

Do you need permission to take
photos in the place/venue you have in mind?
As I am shooting in a city centre I will not need to get any permission however I will do for the studio. To gain permission I am going to contact the person in charge of the photography studio at the university. I will set a time and date for the shoot so the person in charge can prepare the studio before the model and I arrive.

Are you reliant on lifts/props/friends’ equipment/models? How have you planned that these things will come together at the appointed time? Plan B?
I am reliant on my model to get to the studio on time for the shoot, to make sure she is on time I am going to suggest buses she can get which will ensure she arrives on time. I am also reliant on the props in the studio to make my images more effective. I am going to have to rely on public transport to get me to Newcastle city centre on the day of the location shoot, if the public transport is late or fails to arrive I am going to arrange to get a lift from my parents. This will ensure I arrive to be able to do the shoot.
Lesson 13 aims
During todays lesson i am going to complete a photo shoot plan and recce. This is going to help me decide what my images are going to look like and make sure i have thought of every possible situation before doing the photo shoot.

Deconstructions
From this task I have been able to develop my knowledge of already established products similar to my own. I have chosen to deconstruct big names as they are very popular products. This task has helped me create ideas for my own products by basing them on already existing products to make it look as professional as possible.

Lesson 12 review
I have used this lesson to create a reader profile which has allowed me to analyse my survey responses and see what my target audience prefer. This will benefit me when making decisions during the production of the magazine.
Reader profile
Creating a reader profile has benefited me as it has allowed me to organise the results gathered from the survey. It has also allowed me to analyse the results which I can then make decisions from. The reader profile is set out to make it easier to look at the results from the survey. These results help me gather more information about the potential target audience.
Lesson 12 aims
During this lesson i am going to complete a reader profile. I am going to gather the information for the reader profile by looking at my survey responses.

Target Audience Profiles
The people I have included in the target audience profiles will buy my magazine as they are interested in films and also socialising. They are students therefore will want the cheapest deal, as my magazine is going to be free they will be persuaded to pick up the magazine. However I am not going to include any form of music in my magazine, which is a common interest between the profile, this may discourage them from getting the magazine.
Lesson 11 review
During this lesson i have completed the target audience profiles which consist of questions relating to my magazine. I have asked three people who are in my target age group which has allowed me to gather information on what will persuade them to purchase the magazine.
Lesson 11 aims
My aims for this lesson is to create target audience profiles which will allow me to gather more information about the target audience. I will ask questions which are related to the genre of my magazine. I am also going to look at similar products which could be used as inspirations.

Lesson 10 review
I have successfully created flat plans for the first four pages of the magazine and also 3 page of the website. I have created a flat plan for the billboard as well. This has helped me plan the magazine and make are i have included all the features. I have created rationales for each page to plan what exactly i am putting on the pages.
Rationale+ Flatplans

Rationalles:
Front cover: I have positioned the masthead at the top of the page as this will stand out on a shelf which will make the audience more likely to pick up the magazine. I am going to make the main image the main feature on the page as this will appeal to readers as it will be easy on the eye and this follows the typical conventions of a magazine. The sell lines are positioned on the left hand side of the page so they fit around the main image and make the page look organised. The main sell line is positioned across the bottom of the main image and is larger than the other sell lines as this is the main article in the magazine. The essential information which includes the price and barcode of the magazine is positioned in the bottom right corner of the magazine and is smaller than the other features on the page.
Contents page: The masthead is positioned in the top right corner of this page and will be smaller than the one on the front cover. It is going to be in the same font and colour as the front cover to create synergy. The title of the page is in the centre of the page to stand out. This is going to be in a different colour than the other text. The main image is going to cover half of the page and is not going to have any features covering it. The features are going to be under the main image along with a subscription advert which will be positioned at the bottom of the page. I have altered the design slightly when creating the product and have not included a second image on the page as it would of not suited the layout.
Double Page Spread: The left page is going to be covered by the main image which will continue onto the next page, there will be a pull quote on this page also. The right hand side of the double page spread is going to include the title of the article which will be the same as the main sell line on the front cover. Underneath will be a brief introduction of the article which will give the readers an insight on the article. This will be written in the same font and colour as the main body of text. The main body of text will be underneath and separated into two sections to make the page organised. The page numbers will be small and situated in the corner of the pages.
Website:
The home page of the website is going to consist of the main image from the main article and two other images which create a slideshow which changes automatically. Two other images are going to be used underneath this to link to two different pages. The menu for the website is going to be situated in the top right corner which will stay in the same place on all pages. The font and colour scheme is going to be similar to the magazine to create synergy with the other products. The sell lines are going to be positioned under the main image with a brief description of the article. The first hyperlinked page is of the main article which will consist of the main image which is used on the double page spread in the magazine spread across the top half of the page. The bottom half of the page is going to be the article which will be in the same font and colour as the other text. The second hyperlinked page is the feature page of the website which will consist of images and small pieces of text, this will be similar to a contents page. The images used will be linked to the purpose of the article. When creating this page I have altered the design slightly by places the images and text next to each other rather than under each other as this makes the page more organised and fits better on the page.
Billboard: The billboard is mostly covered by the main image which will be in black and white to follow the house style of the brand, the image is the main feature on this product. The masthead will be the largest piece of text on the page to show readers it is linked to the magazine. Underneath the masthead will be a subhead which will inform the readers of the genre of the magazine. The web address will also be on the billboard in the bottom right hand corner so readers can link to the website.
Lesson 10 aims
During this lesson i am going to upload the flat plans of the magazine, website and billboard. I am also going to create rationales for each one.
